How Green Are you? The canoe is a traditional craft used throughout the world for exploring wilderness areas and quietly observing wildlife and flora. It causes no erosion, noise or pollution, and leaves no trace of its passing. Canoeing at appropriate water levels is an environmentally benign activity and causes no damage to wildlife. As canoeists, we practise our sport on natural and manmade environments. We have the potential to affect those environments that are so valuable to our experience. From recycling and insulation to greening events and preventing pollution, there are many ways for us to start operating more sustainably but we recognise that this takes time and effort. We all like to canoe and kayak on clean seas, lakes and rivers, and so it’s in all our interests to do what we can to minimise our impact on the environment. How do you , through your canoeing be it as an individual/part of a group or club ? · Save energy · Recycle rubbish · Save water · Manage and prevent pollution.. · Prevent non-native invasive species...
The Waterways and Environment Team would like to develop some case studies so that we can use them to help others "Go Green” and not only help the environment but save money too! If you have any examples which we can use for some case studies we would really like to hear from you... Do contact us at access@canoe-england.org.uk |
